Microsoft Ending Promotional Windows 8 Upgrade Offer on January 31

Microsoft has revealed that its Windows 8 promotional upgrade offer will end on January 31 as reported earlier following which users will have to pay the full price to upgrade to Windows 8.

Announcing the new pricing structure for Windows 8, Microsoft reiterated that the promotional offer will definitely cease to exist on January 31 and that users have just a few days left to upgrade to Windows 8 if they want to avail the discount. “…remind you to take advantage of the great upgrade offer which lasts until January 31st 2013”, read the Microsoft blog post.

From February 1 new pricing will be in place whereby users will have to shell out $119.99 for Windows 8 upgrade from previous Windows home/consumer SKUs and $199.99 for Windows 8 Pro upgrade. Further, the Windows 8 Pro Pack will cost $99.99 while the Windows 8 Media Center Pack will cost $9.99.

Microsoft also confirmed earlier in this week that previous preview builds of Windows 8 like the Developer Preview, Consumer Preview and Release Preview will all expire this week and users will notice the operating system restarting every hour after the expiry until they install a RTM version of Windows 8.
