Samsung has announced its Mega smartphone that will come in two screen sizes – 6.3 and 5.8-inches.
During the latter half of the week, reports emerged that iOS 7 is running behind schedule and may probably be delayed. According to Daring Fireball’s John Gruber Apple has pulled engineers from OS X team to speed up the development of iOS 7. The delay was caused probably due to the late inclusion of Jony Ive in the iOS 7 team.

Microsoft has gone ahead and given itself a new logo, multicoloured this time, after 25 years marking a major change in company’s history. With launch of Windows 8 just around the corner and Office 2013 already out, the new logo is more or less in synch with those used by Microsoft in its other newly unveiled products. On its official blog, Microsoft has noted that this is the perfect time for such a change and that the current year is going to see launch of new versions of all its products. "It’s been 25 years since we’ve updated the Microsoft logo and now is the perfect time for a change." the blog reads.
Ex-Goldman Sachs programmer, Sergey Aleynikov, who was already found not guilty when taken to court for the first time has been again charged, under New York State laws, with two counts of felonies of unlawful use of secret scientific material and duplication of computer-related material. Previous charges on the programmer were levied citing National Stolen Property Act (NSPA) and the Economic Espionage Act (EEA) but, the appeals court had ruled that the acts do not cover his alleged actions.
iPhone 5 rumours are mounting and a new video indicates that the new iPhone is going to be taller and thinner than its predecessors. According to the video, released by iPhone5Parts.net the screen of iPhone 5 is taller than that of the iPhone 4S. In terms of thickness, the new iPhone is 10% thinner than iPhone 4S.
Apple has announced that its latest Mac OS X version, Mountain Lion, has had three million downloads in just four days thereby making it the most successful OS in Cupertino’s history. Philip Schiller, iPhone maker’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, said, “Just a year after the incredibly successful introduction of Lion, customers have downloaded Mountain Lion over three million times in just four days, making it our most successful release ever.”
Demonoid, one of the most famous BitTorrent tracker site, has been at the receiving end of a massive Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack following which it has been inaccessible since about a day and is expected to stay offline for quite some time. Millions of users across the globe were greeted with the message “server busy” instead of the usual welcome screen. Administrator at Demonoid has told TorrentFreak that this time around the issue is not that easy to fix and that beyond DDoS attacks there might be some other forms of attack against the tracker.
Greenland is experiencing melting ice sheets over as much as 97 per cent of its area and according to the scientists this is more or less a freak event in the current month as normally only 40% of area experience melting. Though most of the thick ice remains, the thing that surprised the scientists is the area over which the melting is occurring and according to NASA, the melting area has never crossed 55% in the past 30 years.
Mozilla’s Android and iOS competitor ‘Boot to Gecko’ recently got a new name ‘Firefox OS’ and now the Thunderbird maker has released a desktop version of its mobile operating system allowing developers to have a sneak peak the OS before it is officially made available on phones. Mozilla has ensured that it gets the highest audience for the Firefox OS and for that it has released the builds for all three major desktop operating systems: Mac, Windows, and Linux.
Apple iOS 6 Beta 3 may have been out just 2 days back but, that hasn’t stopped the Redsn0w team from getting their hands dirty and released a jailbreak for the newly released iOS iteration. The only probably downside of the jailbreak as of now is that this is a tethered one meaning that you would need to connect the iOS device whenever you want to reboot it.
