This commission represents the European Commission's Article 29 Working Party and it announced that a work group will be formed in order to examine Google’s policies, starting from this summer. CNIL will submit its requests at the next Article 29 Working Party plenary session on Feb. 26, as almost a year has passed since they issued their first concerns about the Google’s Update on its privacy policies, which went into practice on March 1 2012.
The update included a very controversial measure whereby Google introduced account consolidation which forced a single user profile across all Google services like YouTube, Search and Blogger.
Up until now the tech giant has refused to comment on CNIL recommendations to improve its privacy policies, but last year the company said that its "new privacy policy demonstrates our long-standing commitment to protecting our users' information and creating great products. We are confident that our privacy notices respect European law."
