Matt Mullenweg, creator of WordPress, spoke at the annual San Francisco WordCamp and revealed some fascinating statistics about the blogging platform. Mullenweg said that the blogging platform was responsible for powering 18.9 per cent of the web. “We’re now up to 18.9 percent of the web running WordPress,” he said.

Confident about the rise in adoption of WordPress, Mullenweg said “We’re going to see the number of people who have WordPress as part of their daily habits grow exponentially.”

Mullenweg went onto say that out of the 18.9 per cent websites running WordPress, 66 per cent are in English and the monthly page views of all WordPress blogs and websites have rose to a whopping 4 billion. Most of the increase in WordPress is because of the mobile apps. In the last year alone, Automattic rolled out 15 app update for the blogging platform.

The creator revealed that WordPress has seen a threefold increase when it comes to new signups via mobile. The company is planning to launch, an online resource which is not live yet. Developers will be able to find all kinds of goodies that would assist them in their WordPress development efforts.
