The Tegra powered gaming console features a clamshell design equipped with a 5-inch flip-up screen capable of a 1,280 x 7,20 pixel resolution and delivers images with clarity that can be equated to Apple’s Retina display. The device is priced at a whopping $349 considering that it is a handheld device and is currently only available in North America. There is a limit of four devices per customer if bough directly from Nvidia.

Some of the other specifications of the device are 16GB internal flash storage; 802.11n Wi-Fi; Bluetooth 3.0; mini-HDMI port; pair of speakers; and GPS pick-up among others. The gaming console weighs 579g.

Users will be able to play games on the console itself but, users owning gaming PCs may very well use the device as a remote controller with a display. The console will work just fine with Valve’s Steam service too. If you are in North America, you can pre-order the Shield here.
