Announcing the release over kernel mailing list Torvalds noted that even though he was to release the Linux 3.9 this week he wasn’t “comfy about it.” Some of the changes in the release candidate include the ones related to networking core and drivers, some architecture changes and “random other stuff”.

Torvalds noted that there was nothing that would have delayed the release of Linux 3.9 but, he was hoping for a calmer week with very few changes. As always, Torvalds has urged developers to refrain from sending out pull requests unless it is something critical.
