The patent also states a built-in facial recognition along with a method of layering a flexible and see-through display on top of one another in order to produce the 3D effect.

The wrap-around glass will cover most part of the phone making it one big touch screen. The device using this technology will recognize which touch to treat as important and what to ignore. While the screen wraps around the device, it will be very important to determine how a user interacts with the phone and for that the users will be tracked through facial recognition.

This is not the first patent from Apple demonstrating a different approach for the smartphone design and this must be kept in mind that not every patent becomes a reality. Apple’s patent application for a device with wrap-around display was first filed for in 2011.
