Website Modaco, citing “well placed insider” has claimed that Asus has increased the production of a 3G variant of the Nexus 7. The teardown by iFixit indicated that there is definitely enough space for a 3G radio as well as a micro-SIM tray.

With enough space at hand, it may be possible that Google might not go for a new design and the Nexus 7 3G will probably carry the same design as its Wi-Fi counterpart.

Given the popularity of the Nexus 7 Wi-Fi variant, the 3G version is likely to create the same level of buzz.
