Google’s probable answer to Amazon’s Kindle has been selling like hot cakes from day one and is available in two different options based on the on-board storage: 8GB and 16GB. Considering that people now-a-days want more on their portable computing device, the 16GB version was selling more than its 8GB sibling. Another reason for the 16GB to outsell 8GB variant was that the price difference between the two is just $50.

The 16GB model has now been listed as ‘coming soon’ with an option for notification through email once the model is back in stock. The 8GB version is still available from Play Store with shipping time of 3-5 days.

It’s not just the Google Play Store which has sold out of the Nexus 7 tablet as Tech Radar has reported that there are other stores including Office Depot, Costco, Sam’s Club, Staples, and GameStop are also out of stock.

Update: The 8GB variant is still in stock and is said to be only available through Play Store. The Nexus 7 is powered by NVidia Tegra 3 processor and comes loaded with Android Jelly Bean operating system making it the first tablet to officially boast of this latest member of Android OS family.
