The 25 year old launched two DoS attacks on back in 2008 for which he was indicted in May 2011. The charges also include such attacks that were carried out by him during the same month against eBay and Priceline. US officials would now be seeking his extradition.

The charges that have been brought against Zubakha include “conspiracy to intentionally cause damage without authorization to a protected computer” and “two counts of intentionally causing damage to a protected computer resulting in the loss of more than $5,000” notes the Wall Street Journal. Zubakha has also been charged with possession of 15+ unauthorized access devices along with identity theft charges.

Two attacks were launched by the Russian; one on June 6, 2008 and another on June 9, 2008 using a botnet. The hacker along with his co-conspirator, Sergey Viktorovich Logashov, boasted about their attack in hacker forums.

If the extradition is successful and if Zubakha is convicted, he could face up to 10 years of prison for the primary charge and additional prison time for other charges.
